Just chock full of half truths
(which are whole lies) and misleading statements. I guess the truth just isn't
in the Nixon campaign's vocabulary. We know that the truth is what
counts....that actions speak louder than words. We cannot and will not let Jay
Nixon hide from the truth!

Kenny is a reformer and a fiscal conservative
who has cut taxes and eliminated government waste. He helped balance the budget
for 4 years before 9-11 changed the world. Kenny fought to make the Bush tax
cuts permanent...and he led the effort to repeal the death tax. He supports a
moratorium on earmarks so the system can be revamped.

In this most
recent ad, Jay says Kenny is a big spender, cites some egregious earmarks,
claims he voted for his own pay raise, and is skipping votes. I will go into
detail below, but first, let's talk about what Jay Nixon doesn't tell you:

In a radio ad, Nixon makes
three claims that have no basis in reality.

Nixon Fiction #1:
“Jay Nixon defended the rights of gun owners all the way to the Supreme
Court.”

Fact: Jay Nixon
has been an ardent opponent of Second Amendment Rights as evidenced by
his outspoken support for Clinton-era gun control policies, his strident
opposition to Missouri’s
concealed gun law and his most recent D-minus grade from the National Rifle
Association.

Nixon Fiction #2:
“(Nixon) always opposed partial birth abortions.”

Facts: In 1999,
Nixon refused to defend a hard-fought ban on partial-birth abortions in Missouri. Instead, he farmed out his office’s defense
of the ban to an outside lawyer. Years
later, Democrat State Rep. Bill Luetkenhaus took note of Nixon’s failure to
defend pro-life laws when he said, “This Legislature is overwhelmingly
pro-life, but yet the laws we pass are not being strongly defended.”

Nixon Fiction #3: “Nixon prosecuted those who hire illegal
immigrants.”

Facts: Nixon’s record combating illegal
immigration is about as paper thin as his record when it comes to creating
jobs. In 1991, then-State Senator Nixon was 1 of 8 Senators who voted against
making English the official language of Missouri. In 1998, he disclosed his support for
ensuring that illegal immigrants retain access to taxpayer-funded government
services here in Missouri. In 2002, Nixon was nowhere to be found
following news reports that an illegal immigrant was working in the office of
Governor Bob Holden. More recently, a
foundation created and overseen by Nixon has doled out hundreds of thousands of
dollars in grants to a St. Louis-based clinic that openly admits to serving
illegal immigrants.
said, "The state economy continues to be strong," February 4, 2008.

FACT: Within the context of what was
happening at the time, Kenny was correct. In
February, the unemployment rate was 5.4 percent. By July, the unemployment rate
was 6.4 percent. In January 2008, 3,300 new jobs were created in Missouri, bringing the
total new jobs created to that time from January 2005 to nearly 100,000 new
jobs.

CLAIM: The ad states, “Hulshof…..said
the economy generally is doing well.”

FACT: Again, this quote was taken out of context. Kenny
was speaking in reference to a recent Ball
State study which ranked Missouri as the top
manufacturing climate in the country. And the ad is not using an actual quote
from Kenny, but a paraphrase from the reporter.

CLAIM: The
ad says, “Supports more of those same policies”…11.03.06 Columbia Missourian

FACT: This
quote appears fabricated. It looks to be hearsay from another person speaking
about Kenny. Aren’t lawyers supposed to know better?
